    Although I, myself, have been scolded for making absolute statements on this site when there is a rare, rare chance of something happening, I see far more stories/threads/posts when owners are worrying needlessly than I do posts where something like impaction, IBD, cage aggression, or a severe feeder bite actually occurred. I have no doubts that the "casual owners" (which I read as willfully ignorant) you reference allow their animals to suffer unknowingly and/or unnecessarily, but I think oftentimes the internet's insistence on repeating the 1:10000s odds events creates excessive angst, especially for inexperienced keepers.

    It will continue forever, because your snake is passing normal bodily waste, which it needs to do periodically to survive...
