Oh and the posting of our address is cool. it's up on other sites for emergency "drop offs" and I have a very strong husband and our Nile monitor makes a great security system..lol
Thanks guys, I needed to rant, sometimes it helps to just rant for a while. Anyhow I apreciate it.

haha, My husband dove into the CT river after one and accually caught it. He was called about five years ago to find the "alligator" everyone was sighting, well he finally saw it and was so excited he just dove on it (I make fun, and tell him just because Steve Irwin does it, doesn't mean he can..lol), well he caught the terrified lizard (6.5 ft.) But got severe cuts on his wrists because all he could think to do was secure it's mouth, He forgot about the nails.
Well now every time we're at the doctors they're always asking "are those self inflicted wounds" insane if your going to kill yourself in the first place that would be alot of tries..lol anyhow ranting again
Oh by the way the nile made it through and lived another two years with a bad liver untill he was put down. But he had a great life. We assume someone let him go thinking maybe he could swim back to Africa..lol
    Ok, Cya

the problem with nile moniters is that they're so damn cute as hatchlings that people dont realize the grow up to be 7 foot monsters that aren't really all to friendly towards being handled!! so they end up being let go or dead due to poor husbandry

Im suprised that they are even legal to own....I think I would rather fight with Mike Tyson than one of those monitors.

yeah, I got a nasty bite (my fault) from our nile monitor about 2 summers ago. The next day I had necrotic tissue removed from the bite mark area. Not fun.
It's amazing what they sell, and don't sell.
