Don't give up--a lot depends on what stage of development they were at. Some may make it, even so...but do brace yourself for deformities.
They can be shocking if you are not prepared. Temperature spikes can cause some serious deformities, but it's possible not all of them will be affected.

My first two BP clutches were subjected, intermittently, to massive temp spikes as I struggled with the concept of "friction" (thanks again to Dr. Del, who eventually reminded me that Fan --> friction --> heat ....)

I did lose most of the eggs, but a couple made it. There were no deformities, but the spikes didn't start until about three weeks prior to hatching, if I recall correctly. I had repeated spikes, not just one isolated incidence, though I think most spikes were in the ~90-95 range and only once did it get ~98.

I would imagine that your younger clutch is at higher risk of death and/or deformities, since they are still in that very vulnerable period of development.

Best of luck with the remainder of incubation!

We had a very similar experience on a late clutch last year. Except the temp spike was up to 118 deg.!! Anyway, one of 4 didn't develop a complete head... The other 3 are healthy as can be. So definitely don't give up yet. Just hope for the best!:please:
    good luck!

Considering the incubator is a insulated unit it would have taken a while for the heat blast in the house to affect the inside temps of the incubator so id guess the spike in the incubator wasnt more then an 8 hour spike so you should be ok. I would more concerned about the clutch that has been in there the longest cause once the eggs hit day 40 they tend to start generating heat anyways so the spike may have effected them more but keep candeling and hope for the best. Good luck

You would think in the wild there has got to be times that the mama cannot keep them at perfect temps all 60 days.. who knows how farfrom perfect those temps get tho.. honestly I like your chances. I have seen and heard of eggs going thru worse situations and turn out perfect. Good luck!

This is true but when it happens they still die in the wild. When eggs spike above 93 and stay for long periods of time theres a good chance of fryin em

The eggs may hatch or they may not. I would keep incubating them just in case. Be warned that they may hatch with deformities and you may have to cull them. Like if that spike occurred during the formation of the snakes heart or something important it coulda messed it up on them. I may be totally off base here but i think thats pretty possible...

    Thanks for the input everyone.

Both clutches are now settled at 88.5 - 89 so i guess ill just have to wait and see what happens. Its so annoying to have put so much effort in to get this far just for one silly thing to potentially destroy everything. Ill keep people posted on the outcome.

    Thanks again
