That's so awful. I'll never understand why some people are willing to take responsibility for a life which they then don't respect, or care for correctly.

I really hope this situation works out for the best and the person learns something.
    Poor baby :(

Oh that poor thing, definately looks like damage is done, such a pretty snake too. I hope everything works out ok. I would get him to a vet ASAP.

Oh the poor baby. Please get her to the vet and update us of his/her condition. What a beautifuly marked snake! I hope it makes a full recovery. Just like not everyone should be a parent...not everyone should be a "snake parent" either. Good Luck.

Yes, please do send those pics to anyone who decides to mess with eyes...as in an inexperienced first time snake owner pulling and prodding as this friend of mine did. I got her back today gave her a good soak and took her to a vet, and indeed! the eye spectacles have been ripped off, good new is she is already recovering according to the vet. This snake will never ever again leave my sight. Blindness is obviously a possibility and almost inevitable it looks like but I will update the thread as she progresses.

Tears came to my eyes seeing those pictures, no joke, that's just terrible. I don't mean to offend your friend or anything, but the only way I can describe this is sick. I'm glad to hear she's getting better though, my heart goes out to her and I wish you and her the best :)

    I'm wondering the same thing.

To the OP. How did your friend send you those pics of a snake with a full stuck shed 4 days after you were there and you said you soaked it and removed the stuck shed? It doesn't make sense how those pics could be from 4 days after you removed the stuck shed.

Maybe its the nights messing with me, but that doesn't even look like the same snake comparing pic 1 and 4

I could be wrong, just looks like the markings are lower on pic 2

    Picture 1 was taken 05/08/2010 with a Samsung TL100

    Picture 2 has no details

this is horrible, i would most likely say the snake will be blind after the vet visit. good luck.

Even if you're not very knowledgeable, that snake is clearly ailing. Where did the friend get this idea to mess around with its eyes? That was piss poor advice to give an amateur, whoever gave it. People who aren't prepared for a vet visit for their pet should get a hermit crab and when they fail at husbandry they can just let it die (incoming flaming from 'all creatures great and small' types).

Good luck. That is a beautiful snake. When I saw the first pic I thought it may be some kind of morph.
