    Yeah, I think I'd go for the not-economy, fully enclosed AP rack in a room that cold. That's pretty cold. I think a single heat tape slot is fine, but provide the animals with hides, so they can cuddle up in a warmer area. And you might want to throw a (fire-resistant) thermal blanket over the rack if it's seriously getting that cold in there.

    You really can't put them in another room in the winter? Down to 65F is okay. My house has terrible insulation, and the snakes just park themselves on the hot spot, and I haven't had any health issues. But 55F is really pushing your luck.
