I am really female heavy right now...1 male for every 5 females. It's worked out great this year, but I do need to add another male or 2.

    I'm 3:5 right now.

I'd prefer if two of those males would be female, but oh well. I got my male pinstripe as a pet w/o any intentions of breeding or owning more snakes at the time. And I won my male albino in a raffle. I still love them regardless though. haha

This post right here is a perfect example of how ratios are more dependent on what your breeding plans are. If you are working with recessives as well as dom/codom you may not breed those males to more than 1-2 females unless you have a bunch of het females you plan on breeding them to as well. I am sitting at about 1.3 right now. My het caramel pair and het clown pair throw the ratio off though. Looking more at 1.5

Very good point! I think im gunna try and add 3 female morphs het ghost and a ghost combo male. Then ill be at 2.6. And ill be able to produce some cool hypo combos hopefully since theyre my favorite recessive morph :)
(Obviously i wont be able to add all four more snakes at once though, not enough cash for that haha)

This is a highly subjective question but...
I would guess if your going for efficiency and effectivness a 1.4 ratio would work nicely. Since you only need a male to lock up with each female once per month or even shed cycle this would allow you to rotate a single male through 4 females in a one month time frame and allow him a little time off as well. But as I said its all opinion. Ive heard of people doing 1.7, personally I do 1.2 but Im going for some very specific results.

For breeding I have 6 females :gj:.

I only have 1 male I want to breed (enchi lesser) to 2 females. I'm hoping for an enchi kingpin male to raise up and breed to my other girls once they're old enough :D

This year, my breeders are 6.21, with 3 girls set aside for my Axanthic to produce het axanthics to raise for the future.

But with the morph girls and boys I've been raising my plans for this year, I will have 9.35 for the 2012/2013 breeding season.

it's close between a 1.3 to 1.4 ratio... so my boys should not get worn out, but can also visit other females if I don't see a good amount of locks with their current females...

I'm the guy that got into this hobby thinking it would just be one snake and now with twelve...and soon to be counting...hahahahaha! That said, my ratio runs thus: 4.1.7. Several of my animals are recessives and/or hets, so that swings the ratio somewhat. The .1. is a rescue, Rancid. No idea what he/she is...letting it heal up from the missing skin patches it received from some terrible sheds thanks to a well-intentioned but clueless previous owner before I pop/probe it.

I have 2 pet male normals, 3 breeding males, 2 breeding females and 2 baby females... I am a little male heavy. If I get my way I will add 4 females this year, or at least 2. I hope.....
