If youre this young and thinking about this then i would really focus on your school work throughout highschool. Get good grades and then youll get good scholarships to schools in any state you wish to apply. Also colorado isnt always warm. Ive been there twice within the past 8 years. Once was in april and it WAS really warm. The other time was in february and it was COLDER than a blue bean. Im in agreeance with you though, as soon as i finish college in CT im leaving and going south or out to the southwest. Ive visited my grandparents in NC and love it there. Ive only visited in the summer so ive experienced their hottest weather there and i didnt really mind it. SC is really nice too.
I gotta get down to FL one of these days because everyone on here seems to love it lol!

I'll be honest, when I was in middle school, I thought I had it all planned out. I'd move to California with my boyfriend at the time, start up school to be a vet, be well on my way through T therapy, and wait for laws to change so we could get married.
8 years later, I'm still in Amishville, boyfriend decided he didn't want to wait for me to get my gender straight and took off for another guy, found out that veterinary practice wasn't for me nor was my second choice of web design, and I'm still waiting on that T therapy. Things don't always go the way we plan, especially not when we plan that far in advance.
Plans aren't always a bad thing. I've still got a lot of my original goals (moving somewhere warmer, finding a nice person to squeeze, gender reassignment is still a go), but the order and time in which I'm accomplishing them is drastically different. Just remember, it's not a bad thing to have a back up plan.

Being by a ocean would be nice be I dont have to be near a ocean also I love fishing and I heard you can fish year round in Florida so that would also be nice if I could move to a place where I can fish for a good bit of the year rivers or oceans

I live in Wisconsin and love it. You ladies enjoy yourselves in the 'warm' states, and we do fish year round too

Re: which state
[QUOTE=sleepygeckos;1803079]Call me cynical, but in Junior High I'd be thinking more about where the college/trade school is I'm hoping to get into someday or the state I'd be more likely to get a job in instead of where I can move to have reptiles. Seriously, the job market still is not going to be recovered by then no matter what people think. [QUOTE]
haha. This is good, down to earth advice, but I'll be honest, when I was in Jr. High, the economy/higher education was not on my radar at all, despite being a little more into current events than your average 7th grader. That's what high school is for ;) That said, the laws are always subject to change. Also subject to change is your life direction. In jr. high I was gung ho Los Angeles; by 20 I wound up in Kansas instead. Boy I would've been awfully depressed if I'd known that then, though.
Anyway, me & mine considered Ft Collins, Colorado ourselves not too long ago, it's sunny but winters are still cold.

I can't believe nobody has said South Carolina yet?! They are very reptile friendly when it comes to laws... Or lack thereof I should say haha

I've lived in CO for almost two years now and came from the Chicago area. It does get cold here but its sunny over 300 days a year :). So when it's cold out at least its still beautiful. I think I wore my winter coat like four times this winter. Plus it's inexpensive and there are few areas with reptile laws (snakes over 3' are illegal in Arapahoe County by Denver). Plus your 30-60 min from the most beautiful wildernesses in the country :) and camping, fishing, rafting, hiking, skiing, hunting, four-wheeling, herping, everything great!
I wish my family would get on board and move out here!
