If you are looking for some exposure to veterinary medicine then this place was definitely not the best place to learn (or even work at). I highly recommend you volunteer at a shelter/humane society/SPCA. I started volunteering at my local shelter doing spay/neuter surgeries and then I became an intern as a vet tech student (currently still am). I graduate in June and I started to look for a job a couple months ago. I applied at a private practice clearly stating that I wanted a job, NOT an internship. They ended up offering me a one month UNPAID internship with the possibility of paid if I do well with the training. So, feeling like I shouldn't miss the opportunity, I reluctantly accepted, hoping that it would work out. Well, after 4 full days of this "internship", they treated me like one of their high school volunteers where I pretty much did ALL their janitorial work. Half the time I just stood there and nobody would let me do anything but clean, even when I asked to help out. Fed up with how I was being treated I left. Now I recently got hired at another shelter where they are starting up their own spay/neuter clinic and I am pretty much the lead vet tech.
Don't worry, it's not your fault. This place was just a crappy clinic. Move on to something better.

Re: I just got fired.
:colbert: that doesn't sound like a place to work. I hope it doesn't bother you to much, and you move on to a better place that appreciates your help more. I also feel like this as I just got fired from my job... My paying job :( I showed up every day and worked hard and they kept some of the worst workers iv ever seen  really irks me
