Direction/Opinions Needed. Just beginning.

I would suggest you pick up the single male and see if you are compatible with ball pythons, and vice versa.

I've seen a lot of people jump into this hobby with plans to start breeding before they even have their first BP.

What's the rush? The world isn't running out of BPs anytime soon, and neither is it begging for more breeders.

Get one and enjoy it....then go from there.

To the previous poster, I do want to get into it slowly. Only planning on getting one or two, however I wanted to get one or two that wouldn't depreciate on me over time if I decided to sell them because I wasn't into ball pythons. I.e. it would make more sense for me to get a normal female ball python over a male normal, because over time the female would gain more value and male would be next to worthless. That's sort of where I was going with this thread.

I am now considering just getting a male albino and then picking up adult female normals locally and have them ready for when he matures.

I completely missed the 50% part. In that case i would just save up and get a female mojave. Maybe a mojave het ghost if you like ghosts and wanna go in that direction.

Very prudent of you. Just keep in mind that there is worth beyond the value of these animals. Own it because you have an interest in it, not for it's value, and you will always come out ahead in the long run.

I still have to go with the ghost pair. I saw the 50%, but a breeder size normal girl is still worth more than the 100% het albino male. I wrote that in my previous post as well as getting a 100% het girl since they're cheap.

Plus that leaves the op with another female for breeding.

And once you get a visual albino male from the het to het pairing, that het male is currently pointless to have as a breeder. Then the op has an extra male, which could be difficult to rehome if he chooses not to keep it.

Either way, in the end, I think the op should just get a female or two now. Then think if males at a later time.....

I must have read over this.
If this is what youre really interested in then i suggest buying gold. Its only going up in value and you dont have to feed/water it.
