    Funny, that hasn't been my experience with working out at all. I find I sleep best after a good workout. Used to be Monday nights for me were several hours of raquetball, then food + beer + shower and I never slept better!

    Yep, I gained 20 pounds in my first 6 months of shift work. I've since stabalized quite a bit and are moving back down to where I use to be / need to be. It's all about adjusting and motivating yourself to do what has to be done (staying active, eating healthy (No mcdonalds!))

    I would take a look at your shift as if it were a day shift and eat the same plan. my boyfriend works nights so this is how he does it.

    breakfast at 5pm, snack around 9pm, lunch around midnight, snack around 4am and dinner around 8am.

    Try taking apples and oranges with you as your snacks. Apples especially will curb your hunger. Oh, and drink water, it will make you feel full without adding calories.
