Interesting on the cooling. My sporadic big girl decided to go last year after a November move and a longer than I wanted cool period. She has only produced 3 clutches and was a 1996 baby of unknown origin but going back to Tracy Barker. Got me wondering if there might be something to cooling some big girls. I really meant to try it with her this year but got busy with work and never set up a separate housing location for her and she doesn’t look promising for this year. Thanks for sharing. Now if I can just convince my wife I need a display python tank for her next year with a night time drop (think that would be enough?).

Who told you this? With humans and quite a number of organisms, size isn't a single gene, it's a number of genes, and often size is determined by dominant, codominant, and recessive trait interactions. I'm fairly certain with ball pythons there is enough range between adult lengths to suggest it isn't just a single trait.
