Most people have concluded that balls tolerate handling. I think this is the case but i also think each snake has their own personality. My normal seems to love being handled and will come out of the tub soon after i open it. My cinnamon pretty much hates being taken out lol. Hes still young but much more nervous. Once you get him out he calms down. But when you start to put him back in his tub he bolts inside and heads for the nearest hide lmao

If my Pastel had it his way, he'd be out 24/7 and living life as a person or dog.
He does not like being "jailed" and begs to be taken out every time I walk by him.

When he is out, he slithers around the chair for a bit and then settles on my lap for his expected back rub.

    Eventually, he falls asleep.

In this photo, he had been asleep for about half an hour with his head resting on my hand.

The only reason he isn't still there to this day is because my hand went to sleep due to my holding it "just so", so as not to disturb his slumber.

    :)

[he's also the one who learned how to "pick the locks" on his tank and 'sleeps with a pillow']

    Really, really weird snake.

They really do all have their own personalities. My female pastel would just rather you never bother her, or take her out of her tub. My male pastel on the other hand, climbs out the minute you open his. And he will try to climb back up your arm when you are trying to put him back. Silly snakes.

Quetzal seems to alert me when he wants to come out. He'll poke his head out of his hides and then climb the branches to poke the screen when I pass by and he's feeling adventurous. If not, he blocks my view from the inside of his hide with his tail :P I'm not sure if he could feel affection per say, but I definitely think he's associated me with "safe place" and "new things to climb on". He also does the climbing back up my arm when I try to put him back, and when he's on my hands he'll explore until his anchor around my finger is the only thing holding him back, then withdraw and sit for a while.
