What is the Dumerils boa's natural prey

Try to provide a much deeper substrate if your Dum's aren't eating. Seems to have worked with mine, he rarely refuses now. Took me about 1.5 years to switch him from live to f/t, now he'll take anything.

I actually tried to switch to a substrate that they could borrow into, and they started eating even less. I've tried live, frozen, fresh killed, mice, rats, different size tubs, different substrates, different racks... They're just finicky little buggers.

IMO husbandry for Dumeril's is similar to some Colubrids. Cool side can be room temp and I have rarely seen mine use a hot spot over 88F. They can be picky eaters and if you do not boost the humidity up to 60% during a shed cycle things will not go well.

My girl is a shy eater even with an adequate amount of aspen to burrow in. Lately I've been leaving a P/K large rat in the hide with her every 10-14 days and she is thriving. She's a very peculiar snake and because of her habits and disposition a favorite of mine in our collection.

I thought there was something wrong with my temps, mine stays on the cool side around 71-71 the vast majority of the time too. I wonder if after they eat they spend time on the warm side to digest, I wouldn't know, I still haven't gotten mine to eat yet.

I know they can be extremely fussy eaters. I have a friend who return her Dum to the breeder because she could only get her to eat every couple of months.

till my dumerils broke schedule he ate one mouse every 15 days if im lucky i get him to eat every 25 or so days
