You still have a few months of Q-time and a couple of months before breeding season is due. How much does he currently weigh? If he is a bug eater he could gain some weight pretty easily if he settles in nicely.
I've been feeding mine roaches after every cycle. The cycle equals: Day 1 fresh CGD, Day 2 leave CGD, Day 3 feed dubia roaches, Day 4 repeat cycle. All of mine have been exploding in size. I'm pretty excited to them in a few months!
I'll be posting more pictures this weekend. I want to get him fired up and see what he looks like then. I may have been initially disappointed in how he looked but he's starting to grow on me. He is really pretty in person, he's just not the blinding yellow he was described as. :P
He's currently 28g but he look so much smaller than my 38-40g male. Hopefully he will eat bugs for me, my big male won't eat dubia or crickets so I don't even try with him any more, he just gets CGD. I don't feed bugs very often because most of mine have no interest in dubia and the place I like to get crickets from is on the other side of town and tends to close early.
