Imo
no disrespect intended
Lgray23 my comment is not to take anything away from the suffering and injustice that is taking place.
I fully support the US lending aid. the united states is not the world police contrary to popular opinion.
i do believe that what happens in Africa is horrible and should be stopped. this also did not just begin last night it has been going on for excess of 15+ years..
however this is a UN issue not a US led operative. the United states supports The United Nations and if this was a UN led resolution then i am sure the USA would jump on board
as per the Hitler reference we did not jump into that once hitler began killing Jews
On December 7, 1941, while German armies were freezing before Moscow, Japan suddenly pushed the United States into the struggle by attacking the American naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Four days later Hitler declared war on the United States. President Roosevelt called on Congress for immediate and massive expansion of the armed forces. Twenty years of neglect and indifference, however, could not be overcome in a few days.
I agree that no one should have to live this way. it is extremely sad but we cannot force democracy on the world.
we dont govern the world we govern our country.
I am all for justice and equality i just dont see how this falls under Americas responsibility.
incidents like this will continue to happen. so anytime someone kills another should America get involved? how about 500 people? 1000? 100,000? in mexico there have been 30000 murders by cartels in the past 4 year should we step in? or let them govern themselves
we live in america. we are entitled to freedoms the the rest of the world is not privy too
p.s. this sort of thing would not happen in America, we would have this type of tyrant locked up in one of our many over crowded prisons. as long as we hold to our beliefs and set a higher standard we can only hope the rest of the world takes notice and tries to be like US

In case you forgot we are the world police. We have not fought a fight that was our own since wwII. and also keep in mind the money being donated is to fight and lobby to support the agenda. It was never a donation campaign to 100% go to the affected children. The 30% you speak off has been spent on aid, schooling and campaigning. Do i think we need to keep our noses clean in others problems? You betcha but we were in afghanistan for no reason. Nothing good has come out of it. Nothing was going to be gained. At least with this it will actually help. And yes kony has been on the run but if the pressure gets off of him he will just go back to doing the same thing. These 30 million in uganda you speak off dont have infrastructure, military means, heck they dont even have clean water. People need to stop trying to draw a parallel to our way of life and theirs. None of us have ever had to walk a mile in those peoples shoes. While we are trying to drum up a measlly 150k to file lawsuits to be able to keep snakes these kony 2012 supporters are drumming up millions. Maybe andrew from usark should get the kony 2012 guy to lobby for us lol

lol that is a common misconception. we are not the world police and nor should we be... hence the UN..
193 Member States to express their views, through the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council and other bodies and committees.
IT IS THEIR (UN's) JOB not the USA acting rouge

Look i totally agree with how you want things to be but just because you dont think we should be the world police doesnt mean its true. If we were not the world police then we would have never been in vietnam, iraq 1.0 and 2.0 and afghanistan. Those are just 4 of the bigger campaigns that had nothing to do with us. We have set a standard on how we aproach the world. Like it or not and i do not but it is what it is. I am well versed in what the uniyed nations is and what their role is but dont think for a second that the un isnt running to america everytime there is something going on. We are the world bullies. I dont mind be the world bullies but in return we are also the world police. Oh and how could i forget somalia. My uncle lost a leg and a hand in somalia for what? Not a damn thing but we were playing world police there

Even if it is true that we are perceived (and in fact see ourselves as) the world police, why do us citizens have to encourage it by playing into it so readily? If you truly do not support America as the "world police", then stop demanding our government take action on issues like this.
And I'm not even going to go into the "we're just going to go to war for the heck of it" attitude of America you just brought up. There's always some sort of "prize" at the end of the line that keeps America moving towards war.
"[On the US's involvement in Somali] Critics of US involvement argued that the US government was intervening so as to gain control of oil concessions for American companies, with a survey of Northeast Africa by the World Bank and UN ranking Somalia second only to Sudan as the top prospective producer. They pointed out that just before pro-U.S. President Siad Barre was overthrown in 1991, nearly two-thirds of the country's territory had been granted as oil concessions to Conoco, Amoco, Chevron and Phillips. A few days prior to the arrival of the Marines, Conoco also lent its Mogadishu corporate compound to the US embassy, with the George H. W. Bush administration's special envoy making use of it as a temporary headquarters."
As a side note, I might have just derailed this thread and opened up a huge can of worms and for that, I'm sorry in advance but I just had to say something. No hard feeling Snake Lab :P ! <3

Lol im not breaking out the can opener for them worms. Look i totally agree. I am so against getting involved in military actions that have nothing to do with us. This particular issue is so hard cause kids are involved and they dont vote, they dont have agendas, they dont hate they are just kids. This guy needs to be found and shot dead in the streets like a dog.

Re: Watch this video - KONY 2012 - You wont regret it!
YAwn,, I lasted til 1:36.....
something that opened my eyes today was when i was talking to a friend from africa,,, yes, a TRUE African American. HE was telling me how he loved American politics because they told the truth,,, (what is in the best intrest of America). He is an educated man, and told me that everywhere (other than America),, descised the truth... He told me how everything from his place was sent to russia, and in return, they (russia) would trade guns..... bottom line,,, its terrible whats going on outside of America,,, hell its terrible whats going on INSIDE America, but we (America) cant change the world,,, and we need to understand that, and embrace what WE have, and not try to enforce what WE have upon others...
spook
