That means that it is a "base morph" Base morphs occur naturally in the wild and only have 1 mutated gene. The only way to produce a mystic is to first have one.

OK. That makes a lot of sense. So, basically, any of the "base morphs" could happen simply by breeding 2 normals? It's just an incredibly long shot on some of them?
And regarding thousands of dollars being lost...As I said, I'm a LONG way from breeding (if ever). But genetics fascinate me. I've always been one of those "I wonder what happens if we mix this together" guys :)
Thats bc its not a combo. Its the same as a pastel.

base morphs differ from designer morphs (also known as combo morphs or multi gene animals)
to produce a designer morph you have to breed 2 or more base morphs together
Once again with the bumble bee example:
the bumble bee is a designer morph. To produce one you breed a pastel and spider together. tPastels and spiders are both base morphs.

While it is technically possible, it is extremely unlikely. Base morphs evolved in the wild over a long period of time. they have 1 gene that has mutated making them different from a "normal" Ball python.
