Thanx Vypyrz :) I still hope someone with more Boa knowledge chimes in and helps me sort out her genes ... would like to breed her down the road and need to know with what i should breed her with to make nice babies. As i stated she was sold to me as Nic PH Leopard. I wouldn`t wanna misrepresent her offspring as something they are not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    John

So i`ve tracked down the breeder and he`s local here in the maritimes and i know him. His leopard line has half Columbian blood and half Sonoran blood as his het breeders came from a Pure Sonoran Leopard bred to a Columbian.

So seems you hit it right ... She`s Sonoran .... right?

    Cheers,

    John

No... She's just a boa at this point (A mutt if you will). I'm really rigid when it comes to locales. I only do locale boas, currently only Nicaraguans.

Being a Colombian cross isn't a bad thing, you just can't call her locale specific, which it's unfortunate that is how she was sold to you. Still doesn't change her being a pretty boa.

There's no specific site like you're looking for, personally I just did a lot of reading before hopping into any boas and figured out that I was not interested in playing with the colombian crosses, which are the huge majority of the market. It is a real pain these days to find pure locale boas with all the morphs and crossing going on. The best thing I could say, is maybe check out Rio Bravo, he's a locale nut and has some great sections on his site.

    Thanx Mike,

Just glad to get that all cleared up. She is only my 1st Boa so i don`t mind she`s not pure ... she`s still mighty sexy :). I`ve wanted a Boa for some time and really only been researching husbandry and such. I`ll do more research now on localities b4 my next pick up. My son also wants a Boa of his own so maybe i`ll look for a really nice looking male Leopard Boa for him.

Any info/advice you could give me on Leopards Mike?

    Cheers,

    John

Just that they're extremely attractive. What would you like to know? I don't have any experience keeping leopards... but arose out of a pure sonoran line from boas belonging to a German guy named Hans Winner. There's no real difference in care, or personality. Some people say the central american boas and their crosses can be snappier, but that's not always the case. They're typically smaller than Colombians, but any difference in size in your animal will probably be negligible due do it's mixed heritage.

Thanx again Mike ... Seems there is yet another twist in this story. Seems the guy i got her from was a bit confused. I`m now finding out through my buddy that breeds Boas which i thought breed this one (which he didn`t), through him talkin with the guy i bought her from, they realized that this little girl was picked up at CRBE in Toronto this past Sept and was supposedly produced by Cory Woods of Cory Woods Reptiles in Toronto .:Corey Woods Reptiles:. Home . If you check out his birthin records you will see what he`s workin on.

Here an exerp from that page on the possible pairin mine came from ....

    Pairing - Leopard 1/06 x Hypo Het Leopard 2/07.

Background on babies & parents - These guys are 75% Nic and 25% Columbian. The Hypo het Leopard female is from EBN and she was prdouced from a Leopard male to Hypo Columbian female. Which in turn was bred to an unrelated Leopard male (here) to produce these guys

I`m gonna email Cory a pic of my girl and see if he can match her with his records ... i`ll follow up when i hear back from him.

Again thanx for everyones help with tryin to figure this out.

    Cheers,

    John

Well according to that she would be 100% het leopard (although it is kinda obvious due to the head pattern).
