    Maybe she wasn't physically ready to have eggs??

    I had a really large female do that(way back a few years) and she died. I was told she would be fine, that's it's very rare. It's possible that she aborted due to something that was going on that killed her soon after.

    I hope your girl is okay and she gives you a ton of great eggs next season.

    Happens but not all that often, This can happen even to non breeding females of age, Its like a menstrual cycle. Nothing to worry about just keep feeding her and try next season.
