Re: Way out of my league but for $50 off craigslist, I had to..
...did you thoroughly check the snake over? $50 for a albino is a deal... to good to b true. The cheapest I've seen a albino go is $125 Ans that was for a juvenile.. anyways Congrats ob the pick up.. be ready" they grow fast.

I've had a pair of albino burms now for about 6-7 years? Got both of them for free. They are great snakes and make very rewarding pets but not everyone is set up to care for them over the long term. Frankly I think everyone who is interested in reptiles should own at least one, they're really not THAT difficult but you need to at least do some research before you commit yourself.

Unfortunately it seems that many newer owners are younger people who's lives are a bit more in flux then some of us older duffers who are a bit more set in our lives. And, since keeping large snakes is really not that common of a practice, when your situation changes it can be difficult to find someone willing to care for the pet that you are no longer able to adequately care for, and you may end up giving it away or selling it for much less then you bought it for just in the hopes that you'll find someone responsible enough to give it the care it deserves.

It's very unfortunate that these new regulations will now make it even harder to find an adequate caretaker if you should find yourself in the unfortunate position of having to find a new home for your snake in the future.

This is actually becoming common on CL. People are trying to offload their Burms while they can it seems. There's on guy on the ATL CL that's put up several Burms in the last month. I suppose I can't blame them. If you acquired a few and were planning on breeding then I wouldn't blame you for getting rid or what would soon be a bad investment. Or maybe their career requires them to move from time to time. Who knows.
