Dehydration might do it too for the same reason.

The only other thing I can think of is trauma to the tongue - do you have glass sliding doors it might have got caught in or anything?

And, just to double check, it was working fine previously?

Norma has an RI and one of the things I noticed, even though the drooling and snot bubbles have greatly decreased, her fork was stuck together when I checked on her yesterday and it took quite a bit of flicking for it it unstick again.

As Doc says, check the mouth for mucus.

She is kept in a 41 qt tub with flexwatt belly heat set at 86F, paper towel substrate, water dish and 40% humidity.

The fork of her tongue is fine and separated, and there's no mucus in the mouth.

if 86 is your hot side temperature, it needs to be bumped up a few degrees, The floor of the tub should be at least 88. I doubt that this is the source of this strangeness though.

Your humidity seems a little low, especially for a BP that's has dehydration issues. I have to say I've never seen any like that tounge situation.

My first thoughts are respiratory infection and dehydration. Like others have said, is she showing any sign of respiratory issues like bubbling, wheezing, etc?

Rechecked her mouth and sure enough; no signs of anything abnormal. She ate for me today, so whatever it is, she's still active.

If you're worried, take her to a good reptile vet.

Thing is, I don't know if I should be worried. After she finished eating, her tongue wasn't stuck, which doesn't help anything, hah. I guess I can just keep an eye on it.

I had a rock python a long time ago that kept striking the tub. After one strike i noticed he tweeked some teeth. Over the next couple weeks his toungue was doing the exact same thing. Turns out as it was coming out it was hanging on his teeth. It cleared up and he was back to rippin my hands open every time i tried to pick him up. Mean lil bugger he was lol.
