I actually had that problem -
With striking and dropping it -
I just left the rat where it was, and after a while she started eating it.

snick will strike, constrict and then drop the rat if he didn't strike close or right on the head. if i rewarm it and dangle it in front of him again he will do the same thing until he strikes it on the head and then he will go ahead and eat it.

left it over night blink and nothing she just went to her hide i think i'll try what Adam was sating and see if it works
