OMG! How sad. I signed and am going to pass along to all my animal loving friends and family. That idiot should have know better than to approach a dog he didn't know like that. I don't care how friendly they are, you always properly introduce yourself to a dog you don't know. SAVE HEIDI!

This is coming from a guy who does NOT like dogs:

I hate when people assume you love their dogs and come up to you or allow the dog to jump up on or lick you.

That said, if the guy came up to you and A. tried to pet your dog and B. she never actually opened her mouth and bit him in my opinion this guy can pound sand.

You know, when I was a little girl, probably around 9 or 10, I was playing with my neighbors and they had a little white dog. We kids were really rough and tumbling out in the yard having a blast.

My friends mom opened the door, and their dog ran out into the yard to play with us. I happened to be in the middle of a somersault when the little dog collided with me in an effort to lick my face. She had her mouth open of course. I came away with a nasty little gash right beside my nose from one of her teeth. It bled of course, like a face wound always does.

I went in the house for a washrag, then decided to go home and let my mom see the cut. The little dogs family were scared silly, they were afraid of what happened and what it would mean if we went to the police or animal control. I went home and showed the cut to my mom. She asked what happened. Without hesitation I told her I was being rowdy and the poor little dog had run into me. I told her it was my own silly fault. Mom patched me up, and then dogs the mom and dad came over. They were so upset and kept apologizing and apologizing over and over. Finally I came over and asked if the dog was okay. They both looked at me kind of funny. I told them, "Well, I just about flattened the poor thing because I didn't see her in time, and I was worried she was hurt." They both said she was fine. I told them I was glad she had not gotten hurt because I was clumsy. They just couldn't believe that I took the blame for what happened.

Technically, it wasn't my fault or the dogs, but I wanted them to know that my mom and dad and I were not out to hurt their dog or get her taken away. I still have a scar on my nose where that happened, but you know what ? It wasn't anything she did wrong. This guy is just another word for a donkey.

There's usually a hearing with whatever animal control agency has jurisdiction. That site is lacking in anything but the petition. I've got a doby now and have had them in the past. I've had my nose cracked, not broken but smacked pretty hard, by a number of dogs over the years. What dog owner hasn't?

Something isn't right here. Either they owners aren't telling everything or ..... something. I hope the dog doesn't wind up dead for being a dog, but what about the rescue she came from? Under the circumstances, I would think they'd either take her back or work hard to find another home for her.

    Really need to know more.

I have a pit as well and I am always careful whenever anyone wants to pet her. She is a big baby and never shown aggression but when people get around these types of dogs they act like you have a tiger on the leash. I hope all works out for this animal as its a damn shame. Dogs arent born aggressive. People make them that way. Its a shame some idiot who is being a pure oppertunist here has to take this out on a helpless dog.
    Good luck

I signed it and shared it.
Have you thought about telling them your dog died and just register her under a new name?
My boyfriend's family did that with their pit and they were never bothered again.
I mean, what are the authorities going to say? 'show me the body'?

    Good luck!

I would have had to put down my dobie the first day if that counted as a dog bite. He was good at either swinging his head up and getting me in the nose or swapping ends and nearly knocking me over with his butt.

Dear God, it sucks when idiots run the show. Give one of them the tiniest scrap of authority and he'll wield it so efficiently as to produce nuclear-type devastation.
