Yup, me and my bf have many water bowl pee-ers among our 20 snakes, some even poo in theirs (that's fun to clean...). Their water will be yellow/yellowish and although I don't smell anything I know it's definitely urine. Just change everyday if you notice your snake uses it frequently.

I've been told that bp's are like other desert animals where their urine comes out hard and white. It's their way to stay hydrated. I seem to have been Ill informed. Do they pee whiles being handled often? I need to know so I don't freak out when it happens.

    Cheers.

You are correct in that their urine comes out solid(urate). However, they have liquid pee as well.
And a snake will only pee on you if its stressed. Otherwise, its not a common occurence.

Dont think ball pythons are desert animals and they do have liquid that comes out as well. Also welcome to bp.net!

I just use tap knowing I can't get to it everyday. The problem with distilled water is that there are no chemicals to fend off bacteria, good for a fish tank, bad for a reptile tank :)

Some snakes seem to just go wherever they please, and others seem to fastidiously determine a toilet spot. Mine only poos and pees in her humid hide all of the sudden. I don't really mind, because it is far easier to just clean out the humid hide than it is to take apart the whole set up to change the substrate. It's just hilarious, like she thinks it's a litter box. Whatever. haha.
