Thanks for all the input. I will definately be going with FedEx on my ventures. And It almost seems if a breeder goes through the trouble of becoming a verified Fedex snake shipper....then they have done at least one thing right. That just sounds like good business practice to me. :)

Does fedex charge a lot extra for you to register with them?

I think the dont charge any direct fees. But you do have to pay for the test package to be shipped etc.

does anyone know what the process is of shipping snakes from canada to usa or from usa to canada. a lot of breeders wont do it unless you spend a lot of cash so im guessing its a real pain to get what ever documents you need.

so what would i have to do to ship a live snake across the border?

Actually, your sales rep should be able to hook you up with an internal number to bill the shipping to so that is free as well.

US Breeders need an export permit from US Fish & Wildlife for starters. Then there's the CITES permit, health certificate, & USFW inspection. Depending on location a port exception may also be necessary. On top of that, air cargo rates on packages leaving the US are higher.

Once you have it down, it's not that bad .... definitely a little more costly ... but it's certainly not as simple as shipping within the states.
