I can tell you from experience that a 114 g "medium" rat is quite large. Our 907g BP male took one down just fine but he is one very content snake with a noticeable bump. This rat is/was a good 4-5" long. About how big are these rats you've been feeding him?

my big girls get 2 med rats (150g+/-) most weeks. with 2 med thats 300g +/- with a 3500g + female thats still less than 10% of her body weight. there are people that only feed 1 small rat a week i tend to feed my snakes a little on the heavy side but this is still within the acceptable range

I think 2 mediums, especially for a male, is too much. The most I feed is a medium a week although I have two large females with insane feeding responses for a bp (literally they think they're freaking retics) where I'll ocassionally alternate a large one week and a medium the next. But for a male, I'd never consider two mediums at one time.

My big male gets one medium rat a week. He does tend to start cruising around his cage at night looking for food 4-5 days after he eats. He sometimes gets a small rat as well when my other ball decides not to eat.

He ate the first one like a champ, as usual. But the second one he seemed more curious about than anything. Eventually he half attempted to strike, then changed his mind. Then smells his cage where the rat was. I guess he's content with one medium a week. :)

Wait a minute. So you're saying that even though everyone here advised against it, you still tried to feed your BP two medium rats at once? If that's the case, why did you bother to start a thread asking for advice? I would hate to see you hurt your pet (possible regurge).

I would recommend feeding a prey equal your BP's girth size without feeding anything much larger than 120 grams once a week this will allow you to have a BP that feed with more consistency.

If you have a male and not a female I would suggest feeding an even smaller prey my giggest males in the 1100 grams do not really get anything larger than 75 grams rats once a week and generally it's really more around 55 grams.

If not for feeding purposes, a scale is the best indicator of weight loss! I always, ALWAYS, do a before and after weighing of my bp to see what empty and full tsweights are. If his weight is significantly lower than previous weighs (on empty, of course), I know theres something wrong! :) I got my scale and bowl for it for about 17 USD on Amazon, and I use it almost every day. :D (For all my different reptiles)
