I own all sorts of other animals, this law directly effects me too. I have over 70 reptiles (including giant constrictors), dogs, a cat, rats, tarantulas, birds, etc.

There is no reason to point fingers at another group and throw them under the bus. We shouldn't allow the Government to regulate any animals we choose to keep in our households. Instead it should be through situational control. Feral cats should be controlled, domestic felines are just as harmless as your Ball Python.

I don't believe this is a real hey we wanna ban this thing I think this is just a hey look if ur banning snakes then u might as well do this too cuz they are dangerous to the environment and it's just trying to put it out there so that they can truly see how stupid this whole ban on snakes is

Exactly - no matter my personal difficulties with cats, I don't think ownership should be banned - we're all just making a point here. It's pretty clear that cats have done, and will continue to do, more environmental harm than snakes ever will, and yet they are not likely to be subject to any legislation or restriction. The point here is to cast the python ban in a realistic light, which of course makes it look thoroughly ridiculous...

    Sarcasm
I believe the post was written with a lot of sarcasm. I don't believe the poster meant to ban cats, but to state the hypocrisy of law recently enacted to ban certain types of large snakes.

I was particularly pointing out the article off of Kingsnake as it's been passed around on Facebook plenty. More directed towards posts being made in this thread.
