So I guess now my question is - what should I refer to them as to not look like a TOTAL idiot?
With us: BCI or boa
With your relatively informed snake friends: red tailed boa or boa
With everyone else: snake

I love you <3 xD
NOW - here's ANOTHER question - I was told they were a breeding pair. Is this possible, even though they look very different? I'm not sure who is the male and who is the female yet. I'm letting them set for a few hours at least.

So I saw Chris - They are both female :) so it doesn't matter if they can breed or not.
The first one is a Central American Boa, and the second is a Columbian Red Tail Boa.
So - is it just that they are from different places that explains their difference in colors?

Well I guess they're not a breeding pair then. ;)
Yes..different localities (Suriname, Guyana, Argentina, etc.) have slightly different color variations. No, there's no way to tell which locality they are at this point.

Alright :) I trust Chris when he told me what they were. He just didn't have time either time I spoke to him before I saw him tonight to properly point at one and say "that one is blah".
