Thinking about getting a gecko, which kind, and why?

I have all three and out of them leos are last on my list because I have had bad experiences with them. I have 7 leos, two are easily handle-able, one just straight up hates me and tries to bite me through it's cage and the others are super flighty.

I love my fat gecko, she is super calm and friendly. Her care is similar to a leo but she does need higher humidity and she is more sensitive to light.

Cresties are by far my favorite and they are very different than leos and fat tails. They are super easy to care for and very cool to watch. They are also very friendly.

That being said, you get the best color variation with leos but cresties are cheaper from what I have seen and come in some really nice colors.

Thanks all for your opinions! And the winner is.......... A Leo! We met a very cool one, and we decided she was the one for us. She is very mellow, and will just hang out with you. I didn't like the looks of the crested as much either. Based off our experience so far with her, I think I would give anyone in the future inquiring a vote for Leo's. :D

Lol, I have not had much luck uploading pictures here. Sorry! She is some sort of a morph not a typical spotted. Very pretty. May have to mess with the pictures more....... :)

Because of this thread, I'm actually in LOVE with crested geckos now. I wanted another snake, but decided another snake would take too much room and be too expensive to feed. After looking up the crested gecko, I realized I would be able to keep one in my room without an additional heat source (I have 3 heat pads and 3 lamps going at all times). The room is always 70-78 degrees, and in the summer, the AC will keep the temp from getting too hot (TX).

Also, crested geckos can eat a solely powder/water mix which is easy peasy compared to my Beardie, Ball, and Corn. :)

I could have written this myself and it would have been spot on minus the part about living in TX. Got an expo coming up on the 29th... GOGO NEW CRESTIE

Cresties :gj:, it's cuteness overload with them and easy to care for, no supplemental heat, room temp is sufficient, no bug needed, and better handling experience in my opinion.

Congrats on the leo.

I would have voted cresties. I've had good experiences with both cresties and leos. I haven't really handled a fat tail yet. But I really love how neat cresties look. I love how they hang on the walls.

Cresties don't need heat and don't need live food. They need humidity, but you can mist with a water spray bottle.

Glad we inspired someone else too! Expand the herping! We love our bp's, but wanted another something. Our daughter found them on kingsnake classifieds and wanted one. So we looked into gecko's...... Now we are the proud owner of a Leo..... Maybe needing one more...... Lol
