Technically, you aren't supposed to sell animals on CL, no matter if it's a BP or a dog or a chimp. It's in the rules, so when you're trying to sell, you're in violation of the rules.

That said, half the flaggers just plain don't think anyone should own pets, it's not about the price tag, it's that you are a horrible person for not being a "forever home" for some "furbaby". Some sincerely think no one should own any animal ever, the PETA/HSUS whackos. Some think anyone who breeds any animal is de ebil. Some think that anyone who owns exotic pets is a irresponsible abuser who turns their pets loose in the Everglades to murder helpless tourists by the dozens. Some think anyone who tries to make money off animals is the most evil person ever!

Flaggers on CraigsList are akin to posters on YouTube. They're morons with no life who think their opinions are more important than the facts. They feel their opinions should be law so they can be pleased with themselves. And yes, they sit on CL to flag anything they don't agree with.

It's a fine line between "rehoming fee" and "selling". I certainly try to sell BPs on CL. I don't consider rehoming a parrot for 1/4th it's actual value, including the cage that is worth more than the rehoming fee to be selling, even if the amount seems high compared to a rabbit or hamster rehoming fee =P

People are just bitter and turdish.

Is doing business on CL even really necessary?

Not necessary for a lot of things, but it has proven to be very useful at times. More useful for selling property. I'm sure people still look at real newspapers for adds, but I've used those more for bottoms of tubs than for paying to post an add. CL can be a pain, but it's free, and is well known by lots of people, so frequently visited.

It's opinion as to whether any fee = a price. Where is the dividing line between selling the parrot and cage and rehoming it? I agree $20 is ridiculously low to be flagged as selling, so it's probably some moron who thinks it shouldn't go to a new home at all. No matter whether it would be better in a new home due to circumstances, it's just the thought of "forever home" as if people don't have things change in their lives.

It's not my opinon about it being a rehoming fee or price, just saying, that's how the CL morons thing. They're crazies.

The craigslist for my area is actually pretty good. It seems like the only things that are flagged are random breeders of puppies (usually ones that are asking ridiculous prices for them).
I've posted a few things on craiglist...and yes, you do get a few incredibly idiotic emails, but for the most part it's not so bad. And I've bought things from craigslist a good amount of times with no problems. In fact, I just bought an adult female ghost, no mites, no RI, good weight (around 1300gr), no stuck shed, no scars, no burns, appears to be in great shape, and she's a great eater....for an AWESOME price from an incredibly nice person.
I really think it's just certain areas. I've read about quite a few bad craigslist experiences on here...but I've yet to see any bad on the CL I go on.

I was trying to by a stack of NPI cages off of CL and flaggers kept flagging the seller's post and the timing was such that I could see the ad but when I tried to email the poster it would say that the ad had been removed due to being flagged. I finally beat them to it and was able to contact him and go through with the deal but what the heck? Who flags someone selling cages? Do I not understand the CL terms?

Haha yeah I understand =) Boyfriend was rolling his eyes at me last night when I was telling him all the gruesome things CL makes me think up after being flagged 12 times in one day.

Oh no, you understand them just fine... it's probably some idiot who things ball pythons are just like wildebeast, and prefer to have an entire neighborhood to roam free in, instead of the cozy tubs more similar to their homes in the wild.

My personal favoite especiall around us is the people who are "rehoming there bp" and when I contact them they try and tell me how its such a rare morph.. when in reality its an extremely underwheight annd malnourished normal ball python. Then you ask them their price and I kid you not the one guy for a 600 gram femal normal told me 550 dollars! Without her setup an even 1000 if I wanted the setup too. All I could do was laugh at him and ask if he was really serious. He never replied. It may have been my colorful laungauge skills that the army has taught me lol
