I'm seeing a normal too, I'd hate to say dinker, but maybe....nothing about this guy screams yellow belly to me.

I hate to say that but I Have doubths abut snake in question being YB.... Belly is more railroad-ish than checkery-ish.. I dont see enought flames... and head spot is very tiny ... he is very dark .. too dark to be YB....
Try make few pictures on White background with flash.. That Could be helpfull with proper ID.
So far I see Interesting Dark normal.. maybe Dinker but not YB :(

When I get a chance I'll take a picture of him next to a normal for comparison.

Comparing him to a normal won't do you any good. Normals can be incredibly varied and unique.

I don't think it's a yellowbelly. It does have a nice dark background, but there's no yellow or orange to speak of on the sides, the flaming is minimal at best, and while the belly gives me pause, I'm still leaning towards no.

This was a yellowbelly I owned, and he wasn't a great example of it either, but you can see how he has yellow on his sides, and some flames going on.

I don't think it's a YB. I'd be more inclined to cross my fingers for it proving to be a Chocolate, or even a Sable...But, I hope for every nice dinker I come across to be a Chocolate, I've developed a bit of an obsession with them.

Mandatory Obligatory Disclaimer: Bottom line, you won't know anything for sure until you see his offspring...Don't count on Yellow Belly though. I just don't see it.

I was under the impression that the darker the ybs the better the quality? Hes deffinately not too dark his coloring is just right and I see nothing wrong with the size of the head spot? its normal sized lol and the flames I dont see a whole lot of and for the belly part I have seen ybs with the same belly and I have also seen yb bellies look so close to a normal you wouldnt be able to tell until you saw their ivory babies Im sticking with my statement its a yb

also everyone.. compare him to other full grown adult ybs dont just compare to the hatchlings because they change over time :)

Yellowbellies aren't necessarily dark, so much as they are high contrast. Generally their dark areas will appear closer to black, and the lighter areas will have a yellow/orange tint to them. This snake is brown on brown, classic normal coloring.

Based on the picture of the snake being held, it doesn't look like an adult, so why compare it to adult yellowbellies? And adults don't change *that* much compared to the babies.
