Fun Pics and Wicked Wobble Video DUW!

Very beautiful spider and great pictures but that is exactly why I stay away from the gene. Personally I cant stand to look at an animal like that, its truly disturbing.

Nice pictures. Your spider does have a horrendous wobble though. I feel thankful none of my spiders or bees are anything like that. Thanks for sharing. :)

That first picture is cool even knowing what it is.

It has to be frustrating as a BP owner to see a serious wobble. The Spiders do often times outgrow a severe wobble like that. My male spider does not have a serious wobble, but as he has gotten bigger, he shows a substantial head tilt. I am thankful thats all it is for him. My Bee shows no vissible signs of any wobble or head tilt though. The wobble can be expressed at varying degrees, so I'm sure she has something, it just isn't noticeable. Hope your reduced spider outgrows the severe wobble!

That is awful!!! I feel so bad for him.

You mean the fact that he's eating or you know what kind of ball it is?

And thanks all for comments. When I actually bought him from the place they never told me anything about the wobble. This experience has at least taught me that when selling anything including spider genes I will be fully disclosing the wobble. I even have a disclaimer on the website I am building regarding the wobble. But like I said he's not always that bad. Seems more so at night he goes crazy.

Thank you for posting that ... I also do find it pretty disturbing, but it is also very helpful to me (trying to initiate some sort of research on spiders ...)

I'd be interested to know how many people have a spider that's that severe ... Might be time for another poll. :rolleyes:

I'm not entirely sure what happened to that sentence -- I'm guessing it's a weird typo and you meant to ask if there's any proof that the severity of the wobble is genetic ..?

To my knowledge there is no conclusive proof, and it is said that you can produce train wrecks out of non-wobblers and non-wobblers out of train wrecks. That said, I would never breed a severe "wobbler" just in case.

It used to be said that ugly pastels could produce nice pastels, and vice versa. That was the dogma for years. We now know that selective breeding goes a long way -- it just can take a few generations, with some flukes in between.

Spiders are clearly here to stay, so IMO, to minimize the chances of producing the occasional seriously affected animal, it's worth avoiding breeding those that are severely affected.

yeah sorry I was half asleep last night typing on my phone so guess that's what happens lol. I still want to breed him one year to find out, after that it will depend I guess.

Still a little upset that his wobble was never disclosed though. I will be sure to disclose all wobble info if I ever sell a spider.
