Shameless, thank you for rescuing this poor snake.

Mineral oil is inexpensive and can be found and most pharmacies i.e. Cvs, Walgreens, etc. It works wonders on stuck eye caps. Used a q-tip to gently apply (almost drip a drop or two) a couple times a day on and around the eye. The snake will do the rest. After 2-3 days I found the eye caps in her enclosure and upon inspection peeled a them apart to find 3 layers.

Sounds/looks like you may have a few more layers, but give it a few days, they will come off, and she will be a new snake when she can finally see.

Best of luck with your rehab.

You are seriously an angel.

This is why I've rescued who I can - before they get this bad. She should have never had to go through this. She did nothing to deserve it.

    Updates! <3 :snake:

And soaking is love. And I agree - wait for a bit to try and feed her, personally I'd wait until she sheds her body most of the way - that has GOT to be uncomfortable. And small food first anyways. Did the person you got her from tell you the last time she ate?

I wish you and her luck and good wishes that she makes a wonderful recovery! I can only imagine how well she will feel after she gets those caps off.

I would start saving up money *now* for vet funds just in case she comes down with something that will need medical care/antibiotics.

Speaking of dehydration...i just went tonight to move ribs to a bigger tank that we got a good deal on. I've noticed that she hasn't been pooping, or peeing lately (though after inspection i did find a tiny tiny white spot of pee). I was feeling her belly, and tail...and i noticed a knot. Long story short i thought it might be a slug...but after some moving, and massaging... a huge orange rock of kidney/urine deposit popped out. I'd noticed something like this before, in one of the poos. It's what can happen when they've been really dehydrated. Keep a look out for something like that too!! That's all I have. I'm only about a month ahead of you on dealing with a baby who's been so dehydrated!

    UPDATE

The most wonderful thing happened last night!

She shed!! I was so excited, and I still am! She still has a long road ahead of her, but she's on the right track. The burn on the back of her head was fairly recent, so when she shed, she tore the scab and bled a bit, but nothing serious. From the looks of it, her right eye is permanently blind, but it might clear up in a few sheds. Her skin isn't as smooth as I'd like, so I'll continue rubbing her down with mineral oil until her next shed, which might be soon if she jump-starts another cycle. Her breathing isn't as laboured, now that one of her nostrils is cleared.
I'm going to try feeding today, using small f/t rats. I found a local exotic vet who gives awesome discounts to new-comers, as well as helps negotiate prices for the financially insecure. So I'll hopefully get her in there sometime this week, where she'll get some vitamin B and antibiotics, maybe an X-ray of her spine, too.

Thank you everyone for your support and kind words, I think they really helped her through. C: I'll keep you all posted on her progress in the future!

Wow I'm so glad to see she is doing better! I can't believe she was still eating for the last person even though she had all those sheds built up! She had to have been eating, she not thin! Great pick up and congrats to you for taking her in!

That is absolutely amazing. I can't believe she shed for you! And nicely at that.

Now that she has shed you should stop using mineral oil. I have read in several posts that mineral oil can cause healthy scales to come off. Maybe still drops on the remaining stuck eyecaps but I wouldn't on her body.

Awesome work! I am interested in seeing what becomes of that eye you think may be permanently damaged. Hopefully it just has some more shedding to do!

You should send an email back to the original owner and show them what ribs was "really" supposed to look like.
