Provent-A-Mite Question

I did treat his tub and after using PAM they still migrated.

I recently got mites from a breeder as well. I refuse to go back to him.

After a month of soaks and home remedies, I finally got PAM. It worked instantly. I never saw a mite again after the day I treated the tub.(which I waited to dry for an hour....I was a little afraid to use the PAM at first. I didn't want to risk killing my snake)

And I did put my water bowl back in when the snake went back in.

Great INFO everyone! I dont have mites (Knock on wood!), but I am purchasing a can to pretreat everything and also to pretreat my new pickup and future pickups! :gj:

i waited about 20 minutes, i did smell some sort of odor after that time in the tank, but i just put a fan to it for about 5 minutes, then place the water dish and snake back, i have done this twice, no problems, no issues with my snake at all, the only issue i have had is, oh yeh, never saw another mite again....

Ive heard PAM can harm some reptiles so be careful. The way we do it is we start soaking or animals. Pull all the water bowls and spray the provent-a-mite. We let the snakes soak for around 30 min while we wash the bowls. When we pull the snake out of the water, We dry em (pulling off any dead mites and giving em a once over) and then coat em with a rag thats had provent-a-mite sprayed into it. They then go straight into the tub. Its worked every time.

Spraying a rag and then wipein down the snake won't harm it, huh?:D

Not necessary and probably not very safe?

You just treat the ENCLOSURE with PAM, NOT the snake.

Thats how my roommate has always done it and so Im goin off that. We never had any issues and it always worked well. Now when you say PAM are you talkin about Provent-a-mite or pam the cooking oil?

The dude that got me into reptiles always told me to do a luke warm bath with blue dawn mixed in to help weaken and kill some of the mites before treatment!? Then he used other methods to kill the rest of the mites.:O
I have also seen mite treatment improperly applied, or used sparingly, and the mites came back bigger, stronger, and more resilient than before.
