    Are you feeding in his enclosure or in a feeding tub? The wording in your first post made me get the feeling you were taking him to the rat instead of bringing the rat to him. This could cause stress as well.

    Sounds like he is preparing to go off feed. The larger meals will take longer and will be harder to digest and maybe the smaller meals are more appealing? Have you reduced his temps? Is he breeding?

    I generally start giving my males smaller meals from now until they go off feed. They seem to take more of the smaller meals.
