It gets down to 70-72 been a while since I checked it. I will get a reading for you tomorrow morning before the lights come on if that will help you.

Do you want the temp to go down at night? Why not just use an infared bulb and leave it on all the time? I hook mine to a thermostat so they come on/off as needed.

I do not allow my ambient/cool end temps to go below 77-8 ever. I like to see 79-81 at the coolest personally. tanks can be a pain tubs in cool rooms also the only answer is a custom enclosure but that is some cash a side turned tank can help with both but it is still a struggle glass insulates better than a tub does but not much usually you need to add insulation and or a secondary heater. i use a Fluorescent light inside the tank (side turned) and a second UTH for the cool side. My temps on the hot side are stable 90 all the time the ambient temps change during the day and night they start at 9 am around 79-80 and will hit 83-4 at 3 and then as the room drops ambient temps they drop too so around 8 they are back to 81-2 and at 1 am they are typically 79-80 and at 3 or 4 am they will be about the coolest of the period 78-9 or so then the cycle starts over.
