I would try to find another apartment with your friend that allows animals.

[+] Cheaper by a long shot, better care of animals, friend could possible help out if you were away?

[-] Share a barthroom :grabbed: kitchen etc, which isnt too bad.

You MAY try to find a condo or something. I almost rented one with a friend that had two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a tiny backyard for $700 a month, but thats in Oklahoma.

    You guys rock!

I am going to view the studio this weekend. If it looks good, I'm going to seal the deal with my co-worker.

I'm actually a clean freak..so having my own bathroom is a big +++++++..My friend in the other hand is a bit of a slob..

I just don't know what to tell my him.....:tears:

You are going to go nuts if you are a clean freak and they are a slob. I promise.

Ever have a kid help you cook? I am sure you can imagine the mess they make and you are stuck cleaning it up. Now, imagine that kid as an adult and your room mate... You are cleaning up that stinky kitchen that you had no part in messing up. Every.Day.
Know when your bathtub gets clogged? You have to get the Draino and then probably still dig hairs out of the drain? It's gross right? At least you know those are your hairs when you live by yourself. Gag worthy.
It's not worth it. Been there, done that.

Just be honest and frank. I mean...don't tell him he's a slob. :P But tell him you found a good deal on a solo apartment and you think that's the best move for you. Maybe offer to help him find a similar deal.

Living with someone just to avoid hurt feelings is a surefire way to ruin a friendship, too. That'd be a prime breeding ground for resentment and negativity.

What's more important? Keeping your pets or sparing your friend's feelings? I'm sure they will understand.
