Evenstar, you may be right. The more pics of lessers that I see, the more I like the coffee color and if they stay like that/get lighter with age, that may be the direction I go. This site is awesome, thanks to all of you.

Pastel yb males aren't all that pricey either and that is a good looking morph. There's a nice looking one on Kingsnake right now for $350, shipping included. Nope, it's not mine. :)

I have one vital question....Are you looking for the "best" or "cheapest"? Two completely different catagories IMO.

Well, I realize that best and cheap rarely go together with anything. lol I was just trying to narrow down how bright/light colored of an animal I could reasonably get for under $400 that would likely maintain its color. I have seen some nice pastels of friends that I see a few years later and they have gotten noticeably darker. I was trying to avoid that as I already have a nice normal. Can't afford the best, so I need the best that I can afford!

Well in that case, I would suggest a Sulfur or Fire. They all seem to get better with age and they have a cool super. Sulfur having the more attractive super in my eyes. The combos you can make with them blow the competitors out of the water(pastel combos compared to fire/sulfur combos). Just my opinion though. If I was you I would surf Kingsnake or Fauna Classifieds for something in your price range that is appealing to your eyes and google the possible combos that can be made with the animal you are looking to purchase. That way, you are producing animals YOU want to produce and not the ones that are suggested to you by other members of a forum. It's a lot more fun when you are breeding animals you would like to see rather than what people want. Good luck!

Cant agree with this more!! Lessers all the way!

Butter, pastel butter, pinstripe (pinstripe is a bit darker depending on the individual snake of course, but one can be had for 200 to 250. Same goes for the butter. Maybe even cheaper. The pastel butter I'm not sure. Hope this helped :)

I totally agree with you Mike, but I think the OP said he didn't have any interest in breeding so that's why he was asking for others' opinions. Of course things can change! :D

Just as long as YOU like them too! You should always go with what YOU like and not what others want just as Mike pointed out. But I do think lessers/butters are really fantastic and all their combos are pretty amazing too! One reason I like them is that they are very different from normals. Not just lighter, but their colors are very distinct from a normal. There's no mistaking that they are a morph.
