Shelves half as long as they are ppl didn't even figure out how to keep them alive in captivity til the 90's not everything written is fact and so many are just abandoned and die in the wild everyear without a chance ppl force read to get them big cuz their "cooler"! They aren't a trophy get a hatching raise it throughout its lifetime and create a bond create a companion not a neglected burden you don't feel like caring for their life is in your hands you'll need more professional reliable source than a forum before you choose an animal that can live 30+ years in captivity without a problem. Ball Pythons are the best starters" this rant wasn't directed to anyone in this forum but animal neglect is a hotspot for me and I'm watching a show about a raided reptile house in which over a third of them didn't make it and its easily avoided.
