Why don't you just move the bottom rail up on each tub?
I can't see that well in the photo but do you have the water line feeding in to the tub, below the screen? They will chew through that for sure.

and yes i have the line in the tub a little thats how the claps go..... will this be a problem

I have the same clips, but I do them in reverse of the pictures as well, so they clip to the outside, thus keeping the line from being exposed and allowing a really easy removal from above rather than having to reach around and up in the tub.

As to the gap on your tubs you need to snug them up. If a rat can get their teeth on the top lip of the tub they WILL chew out. When I build mine I basically turn the rack upside down and lay the tub on the hardware cloth and then attach the rails. It is tight to start with but with time they will loosen up.
