here is an idea that she had...what do you think?? I think its pretty bland personally. I like the layout, I just want more eye catching colors. Richness, yet "look at me" you know...

Any ideas? She is doing it for free for her portfolio. =) Great deal since I need a good website and she needs something for the portfolio! =) Im all for helping each other.

I've been coding websites since I was 10.

Also, as an Idea you should give a way to filter the different types of morphs. Seeing the entire available just clumped together is annoying. I see it all the time. (That would require PHP ;) )

Interesting I will bring that up to her. See if she can do it. I totally agree with you. =)

It is an okay layout. Sometimes blandness is better because it will load quicker on browsers. The more cluttered it is the longer it takes to load. I don't like the color scheme but that's just me. In reality it's just what you like the best. :)

    Good luck,

I'm terrible on computers and so sites that are easy to read and navigate are great. I think someone mentioned it but if you could sort your available list would be nice. If I want to look for a pied or something specific, its kind of a pain to look through everything. Also, on the sample, I didn't see where you had anything about caresheets, and FAQ's. I'm interested to see how it turns out. Good luck.

Yeah this is just a pre-look. I have to give her all the info that I want on it like different tabs etc. =)

    Here's a few tips:

    1. Needs to be easily navigated. It sucks not being able to find things easily.
    2. Simple. When it comes to the color scheme you don't want a bunch of different colors. It can really strain a person's eye. Darker colors are usually best. (White is good to)
    3. Make sure the layout stays pretty consistent. (I'm sure it will be though)
    4. Don't make it so you have to scroll forever down on a FAQ or Caresheet. Sometimes putting multiple pages for a caresheet is good. That way you don't have the annoyance of scrolling down forever.

    Just a few tips.

I'm sure whatever happens it'll look nice.

    Good luck,

    RJ

i like the fact that you want to educate. one site ran by one of our local breeders has a how to section on there page. in the drop down it has kind of dictionary on genetic terms. as a newbie, i LOOOOVED that! i kept seeing words and abreviations that i had no clue what they ment. i found it educational and appreciated that they took the time to put that up. also if there is any way to put in a search bar that would make the sorting process a breeze. lookin for a pied? type in pied and poof! there they are. also another local breeded whom we get our mice from will go onto their page almost immediately and put a SOLD stamp across the pic of a snake thats been sold. best of luck with everything, looking forward to seeing the finished product!
