It is hard to say from you description what is going on. Is it possible that the dark eye was always dark and the light side was always light? I have a couple that are not completely symmetrical.

The scale is called a spectacle or brille, if you have actually removed the spectacle scale there is little to be done. Make sure it is clean and looks ok if it looks odd it is time for a vet. If you are not currently using paper it might be a good idea until the it heals or the next shed. Lets hope that the spectacle is intact and it is just a case of nerves. Fingers crossed.

To avoid problems like that with the pillowcase use cheap ones with a low thread count. Soak it and then seal the top and push down to see if air can pass through it if you are unsure.

You really do need to keep the eye moisturised with artificial tears or it will definately dry out and get infected - unlike us snakes cannot blink to spread moisture over the eye surface.

That's why a course of antibiotics is also generally recommended.

But, as everyone already covered, this is why we are always very reluctant to help people remove eyecaps in any situation where anything might go wrong and why we never say tape is a good idea. :(

Yeah, for future reference, just leave stuck eye caps alone. If they don't come off with the next shed, then see the vet. Messing with eye caps will probably end up doing more harm then good.

I am not 100% convinced you removed the eye cap. photos might help did you try to format the card with the camera? It is often in the set up menue. remember we are not vets and are not there. I bow to Dels experience if there is a chance the eye cap is removed you should see a vet and let them make that determination hopefully there is an experienced vet in the area.

I guess a cheap pillow case would be ok a open weave that you can see the holes better, it is easier to my mind to correct the humidity issue and allow the snake to either remove it by itself or wait until next shed cycle, unless there is many then intervention might be re visited. I rarely have broken sheds, my experience come from working with rescues.
