    My pads are directly on the tub, and they barely even warp the tub. I use Zoo Med, and they get HOT, so just get a tub that is known for being pretty tough like sterillite.

    Lol I forgot to mention that, glad someone else said something. You don't have to worry about them melting unless something goes very wrong with the wiring, but you do have to worry about the tub wearing on the plastic covering the flexwatt. I had my tubs rubbing on the flexwatt and one day I put my hand on the flexwatt to see if it was warm and I got a nice shock!

    Thanks Stephanie! That's another reason I wanted to use a "mounting board" for the tub. At the moment, I'm not going to be using a rack - just an individual tub. So I figured that if I used a mounting board for the UTH, I wouldn't be rubbing the tub across it.

    And I'm planning on using a Sterillite tub and an Ultratherm UTH from RBI which doesn't get as hot as a ZooMed and seems to hold up a bit better than flexwatt. :gj:
