Wont Shed?

I found a discolored blob in her warm hide area. Although I tried, I couldnt identify it. It was a clump of pale stuff that was about the size of a 50 cent peice that smooshed when I picked it up with a paper towel.
So it could be one or the other, Im thinking

And also she doesnt seem to be rubbing on anything, and she doesnt seem agitated or itchy. She's just slithering around like nothing is wrong.
So I'm feeling a little bit more at ease.

Well if its white its urates and if any other brown to blackish color its poop, but I'm sure you know that. But dont worry yourself. She will be fine. Good luck with her and let us know what happens or if you have any other concerns.

Couple of things:

(1) Stop giving your snake baths. It does a lot of harm and almost no good. Ditto with stuffing her in a pillowcase. You keep messing with her and the shed will be the least of your issues.

(2) Stop messing with the humidity.......there is no magic humidity number at which you will get a perfect shed. I've had balls shed perfectly at less than 40% ambient humidity.

(3) Provide humidity via a humid hide. You are courting all sort of health issues when you bump up the ambient humidity at the temps we keep ball pythons at. Your enclosure becomes a petri dish for all sorts of bacteria. Most set ups are not adequately ventilated to support high humidity and relatively warm temps safely.

(4) Stop messing with the snake, stop worrying about when and if it will shed and leave the animal alone. Make sure it's temps are good, and make sure you provide the humid hide. Don't give another thought to things like baths, shed timelines and how to crank up the ambient humidity. If the temps are good and she feels secure, she'll shed just fine.

(5) Don't make this harder than it needs to be. The animal knows what to do. What you need to do is to leave her alone so that she can do it without getting stressed out.

Bravo, very well said. And for the record I mentioned the pillow case just wanted to give him an alternative to soaking but never said he should do it at this point so since he just decided to do it I told him to just leave it after that if it doesnt shed. But I commend you for what you said cause thats what I should have said in the first place. You always have to be very specific on here and Im still getting used to it, cause I always ask before I do when I dont know. Well enough of that, good post.

Just to add though I am a little concerned with this discolored blob he was talking about. I mean how can you not tell if its crap or urates? So that has gotten me wondering from all the post I've seen about snakes passing weird blobs. Any idea about that one?

X3 Snake baths really dont help and wash away the fluid between the new and old skin and cause shed dificulty
