What temperature do you put on your thermostat?

my probe is on a piece of sterilite tub but the piece of tub is like on the side of the heat tape so i can have free space for my tub. I don't insulate the rack and i think i just said the ambient temperature is around 75-77 in the day. My cool end in the tub is around 77. The reason why its a bit cool is because I have hardwood floor, no carpet what so ever. So it can get cold in the winter and hella hot in the summer.

Where do you place your probe in a rack then without bothering the tubs. If I put the probe beneath the tubs, the tub wouldnt get as much heat am I correct? Its weird though, I have two thermometers placed on the heat tape and one says the temperature of 100-101 while another one goes to a maximum of 95 or 96 ( i have an on and off thermostat). The one that reads 100-101 is beneath a tub with an adult snake though.

Sounds like the probe needs to be moved to where it is directly on the hot spot of the flexwatt.
Is there an inch behind the tub that you can tape it down securely?

Wait i dont get it, how can there be room behind the tub when I'm sliding the tub so it goes past the heat tape? There isnt any room thats why I put it to like the side of the tub so i can slide it better. But when I used my temp gun just now I kept moving the pointing from one side of the heat tape to the area where i had my probe and as it got to the probe the temperature decreased.

The ambient temp is quite cool. The ambient air temp inside the tub really should not be much cooler than 75 day or night and most will say 77-85 for the ambient air temps. Your cool end temp is also quite cool.

Ambient air temps go a long way to regulate core temps. regulating them is more important than most recognize. The easiest solution is to heat the room up, it will solve the ambient air cool end and you probe shift. Cool rooms can be done (I have a rack in a cool room) but it isn't easy or really recommended.

okay i think i found the problem or maybe not, my thermometer probe on the heat tape reads the same as the thermostat probe on the heat tape (not on piece of sterilite). My temp gun reads 107-112 when my thermostat probe reads 91-92 which is really bizarre,

Accuracy of IR guns on reflective objects is suspect. IR gun are great for fast checks but the limitations need to be remembered. They really work best on organic matte surface objects in organic glossy surfaces often will deliver incorrect readings.

wait now i think im wrong, so i moved my thermometer probe to the middle and it read 100 so now I think i should put the thermostat probe in the middle but its going to interfere with the tubs.
