What is it with all this treats? I never use treats, which works for me and my dog. No problems at all. Sometimes I train right before food time, and the food is some sort of a reward (that's the closest I get to treats). Just be happy when you want to learn your dog something, he feels if your energy is "good" or "bad". Just be patient, it won't happen over a night.

Food is just what usually works. A treat should be whatever the dog sees as the highest value. Could be throwing a ball, a certain toy, etc. But usually dogs are pretty food driven. What may work for one dog may not work for another.
