Tank suggestions!

1) If you are getting a baby, the exo-terra is still too big. It might be ok if you reeaally clutter up the floor space, but keep in mind that BPs are very shy animals. They will eventually go off feed if they feel insecure. Too big a cage will stress them out and make them insecure. A 36x18x18 is a 40gal breeder size which is appropriate for a full grown adult, not a baby. If you put a lot of hides and plants (fake or real) all over the cage floor, it might be ok. Your baby will need a lot of hiding places though.

I would recommend the 20gal long Critter Cage by Zilla - it has a lockable screen top - and upgrade when your snake outgrows it. The Critter Cages are great for snakes and PetSmart carries them. You'll need to cover the screen to help hold in humidity though - I use wax paper, but foil will work too.

2) As far as plants go, pothos works really well as a live plant for reptiles. It is safe and will hold up well to crushiing. It also will grow in little or no soil so eco earth or a combo of that and cypress mulch will do well for it. And it doesn't need any extra light!! So that'll help you with the 3rd point...

3) Don't go with lights. BPs don't need them and they will positively suck the humidity right out of a glass tank. The right sized UTH should be enough to heat your BPs enclosure unless you keep your house exceptionally cool (like 67 or lower).

4) Using these tips, you should be able to create a vivarium for your baby that'll be healthy for him, hold humidity well, and look great! We'll want pictures..... ;)

I am in the process of building a huge vivarium and its ok to go big but you have to incorporate a lot of things in there so its not open and your BP is able to feel secure at all times and not stressed. Just hope you realize holw much money it will take to fill it with plants,vines and hides and etc. I'm already up to $500 on mine and that's not including the pumps, plants, vines, hides, light and many many more things I will be putting in my 46L x 2'W x 3'H. Just fyi.

yeah joe i subed to that thread that thing looks sick! and the snake is about 5 months old and thank u guys for the tips.. kinda biased to exo terra... zilla just seems cheaply built to me
