I won't be promoting myself as a business. I'll only be using the name on here so I don't have to change it later and won't be using it anywhere else until i'm established. And you all know that I won't have an established business until a couple or few years.

I don't really have any suggestions, mine isn't very creative it's just my initials. :P

ech.com is taken, but I do like East Coast Herp so you could use eastcoastherp.com. :)

You don't get to just create a new account because you want to use a new name. ;) That is strictly against the rules of the site. However, we do allow our members to make one name change if they choose to do so. We'll be happy to work with you on that so you can keep your current account here.

You only get to do this once....so take some time and be 100% sure that's the name you want to go with for your company. I don't think it's a choice that should be made lightly. Send me a PM whenever you are ready. :)

You cannot copyright a name, you can only trademark it. Copyright is for "works," not titles.

The primary factor in determining trademark conflict is consumer confusion... if a judge rules that the consumer is likely to be confused by "reptile" vs "reptiles", you'd lose that lawsuit.

It seems to me that you'd be better off trying to come up with a more creative name that can't be confused with other companies in the same market. Not just because of trademark conflict, but you're likely to confuse *your* potential customers.

Okay thank you, i'll try to think of some other names and get back to you. I'm not 100% sure of East Coast Herp as my permanent name because I do not plan to spend my whole life on the east coast or even in the USA so I should think of something that does not apply to location.

Seeing that you are from Knoxville. What about the following names?

    Tennessee Herps or Reptiles
    Mid-American Exotics or Morphs
    Artistic Exotics
    East Tennessee Herps or Reptiles
    Mountain View Morphs

Just a few for thought I came up with just now for ya.

Thank you. I want something that I can keep for life so it can't be region based. I really like Artistic Exotics, unfortunately that is trademarked by a group on flickr.com for pictures of exotic cars. I'll think of something :) I may just go with Swanson Exotics.
