Nobody knows how long a ball python can live with IBD.

Many of the early stories of ball python collections being decimated within months by IBD were never proven to be IBD, and some have been finally determined to be other diseases. Shame on the publishers of those stories for not going back and correcting their "info" pages, Youtube Videos, etc.

Unfortunately it's an example of another one of those internet mythologies that has somehow become a stone cold fact through casual word of mouth. Dr. Jacobson has even answered e-mails to members of this site confirming that no one knows how long a ball python can live with the disease.

Neurological symptoms occur in just about every major snake virus, bacterial infection, along with exposure to chemicals and temperature extremes. Regardless - the OP's snake does not sound it's like stargazing - it sounds like it is displaying the behavior of a normal ball python.

As for the video links that have been posted in this thread - unless the poster has either had a positive test confirming the disease or performed a necropsy doing the same, don't make the mistake of assuming the snakes shown have IBD.
