    If they have mites, I'd say paper towels would be the best substrate while treating. :gj:

    If you are treating for mites you dont want anything but paper. As far as aspen goes if you only have a couple animals the cleanest stuff ive seen is the zoomed shreded. It has virtually no dust at all. I used to use aspen for my venomous stuff but switched to cypress for all my animals cause aspen doesnt hold the humidity like cypress does and cypress is the closest thing to natural environment for balls. Keep in mind ball pythons in africa live underground where all the water is. They live in burrows in termite mounds. This is where the majority of balls are caught from in the wild.
