Re: Tub feeding Vs Enclosure feeding....?
I feed all my snakes in their enclosures / tubs, which in my opinion is why I never get bit...

Wow, pretty shocked how many people feed inside versus a separate enclosure.

I was wanting to know this because like I said before I feed in a separate enclosure, when I put the mouse in he takes it in seconds and I give him about 15 mins after he ate. When I see him exploring is when I usually take him out and put him back in the tank... he will slither into the warm hide and chill for the 2 days.

I was taking readings with my temp gun when my hand got a lil close to his hide entrance and he tried to nip at me and this was 5 mins after I put him back in so thats why I sparked up this topic wasnt sure if i stressed him out or not...:P

you could have stressed him a little by feeding him outside his tank but more than likely he struck at you bc he was still in feeding mode and the heat from your hand looked tasty to him haha

So far we have done both. First few couple feedings were in a seperate bin, wasn't sure how he was going to do so I wanted easy access to him. Then we had another feeding in his cage during his shed, since he doesn't like to be messed with when he can't see well. Last feeding was back in the tub, I was switching over to a rat, adn once again I wanted to keep a better on him. Most of this has been for my convenince than his. I am still a bit new, nervous about substrate, feeding response, size of prey, etc. We will probably start using his cage now that we are more confident in him and ourselves.

Other than when fed him in cage due to shed, he doesn't seem no worse for wear using a seperate tub. He is quick to grab his food either way, and has not yet struck at us for any reason.
